The single most important decision rule for delegation: if someone can do the task at 70% of your quality, delegate it. Anything higher is a luxury threshold that will keep you doing the work forever, because by definition you're the bar.
The hidden assumption people don't examine is that 100% is the right target. It almost never is. The cost of the missing 30% is small and often invisible. The cost of you doing the task — your time at whatever the highest-value alternative is — is enormous and compounds.
The rule also fixes a common mistake: founders waiting until "they can afford help." Capacity comes from delegation, not before it. The chicken-and-egg breaks when you delegate the first thing at 70%.
